Registration Policy

Students of the Alliance Française de Milwaukee are not required to be members in order to take classes. All students are given a complimentary membership. Tuition costs do not include books.

All Beginner, Intermediate, Conversation, and Children's courses run for the course of the 10, 11, or 12 week session.

The Alliance Française de Milwaukee offers a range of discounts on courses. Please refer to the deals below. Percentage discounts are applied to the lesser amount after other discounts have been applied.

To ensure that your class will run, please register by the deadline printed on the session catalogue. Courses with insufficient enrollment will be cancelled; low enrollment classes may be either cancelled or have class time shortened with the same tuition rate applicable. Courses require a minimum of 3 students (as of Winter 2021).

All Beginner, Intermediate, Conversation, and Children's courses run 10-weeks (total of 10 classes). Students are encouraged to attend the full session. Classes are not pro-rated for absences. No refunds will be issued. Private lessons may be scheduled upon request as make-ups at the applicable hourly rate.

Private Lessons and Workshops upon Request

A 24-hour notice of cancellation is required for all private lessons. Students are responsible for notifying both the Alliance Française staff and teacher. Any lesson cancelled with less than a 24-hour notice will be billed to the student.

The starting rate for private lessons is $40 per hour. An advance payment of $160 is due by the first day of private lessons. Payments must be made to the Alliance Française de Milwaukee and received by the administrative staff. Lessons after will be billed at the applicable hourly rate on a monthly basis.

For special arrangements such as field trips, tours, or workshops upon request, a partial payment and complete billing information will be required at the time of confirmation. Payment in full will be required by the day of class. Because of our responsibility to instructors, the Alliance Française will not refund fees after the class or event has been confirmed.

Course Payment

• Tuition must be paid in full at the time of course registration; unpaid registrations do not hold a place in class.
• Membership discounts, vouchers, and gift certificates do not apply to course material fees.

The Alliance Française will refund tuition if:

• Withdrawal occurs before the deadline printed on the session catalogue, a refund will be issued minus a $25 administration fee.
• Withdrawal occurs within 7 days after the deadline on the session catalogue, a refund will be issued minus the cost of course hours attended and a $25 administration fee.
• Class is cancelled due to low enrollment.

After the first week of the session, no refunds will be given.

The Alliance Française de Milwaukee wants to continue providing the community with the highest quality French courses in Wisconsin! Because of our nonprofit status, our commitment to keeping tuition costs down, and our responsibility to our teachers, fees cannot be pro-rated or reduced beyond the deals we currently offer. All students are asked to register before the start of class. Students must pay for course in full by the first lesson. Credits towards another session expire after 1 year.

Books are not returnable or refundable if they have already been picked up.
